The election system of the Utopian States has done away with most of the inequities of modern world governments.

Diminished is the influence of big money. Diminished is the oligarchy of the lawyers.

The representatives for the house of Reps are chosen by a lottery system similar to jury duty in democratic nations. All college educated people over the age of 35 are placed into a pool. The representatives are chosen at random from this pool.

Other candidates are elected in a general election with a process that computers have made possible.

The election process starts with candidate nomination. The nomination is a process in which all voters are involved. All voters write the name of the person they wish to hold office on the ballot. All names appearing on the ballot are saved in a computer database.

The 10 largest vote getters are the nominees. They are placed on the ballot for the primaries -- a general election in which all citizens vote. The two largest winners in the primaries are placed on the election ballot.

There is no big money spent on advertising before the final election. The candidates express their views in web sites and on free government media that is dedicated to expressing candidate viewpoints. (All the other media is identical to media in any of the free countries.)

Public Office IS held by:
  • Lottery of the Representatives
  • Free advertising on Web Sites
  • Free advertising in the government media
  • Public Computer Assisted Nomination
  • A Public Primary for the ten nominees
  • A general election.
Public Office is NOT held by:
  • Requiring the candidates to acquire large sums of money for advertising.
  • Having a system that favors a single occupation.
  • Requiring the each candidate dedicate his life to becoming a politician.
  • Lying.
  • Advertising (at least not until the general election)
  • Over-emphasis on trivial negatives.
